Mark Lawson has asked if I would start this new topic off.
When I left the the Regiment I started working in Paignton Devon for a while then decided to relocate to Spain and set up business with my wife (Karen & Children) we then accumulated a holiday home in Tenerife of which we then moved too.
Karen has written a book about our times in Spain, should you wish to view it: http://www.sunenterprise.co.uk/book/lancashire_lass.htm a few people have read it and think it is very good, could not put the book down.
We might be moving on, watch this space...

After I got out, I went back to the big smoke and got a job working for a bank, dealing with share holder queries/problems etc (my mum was actually my boss it not what you know etc!) After about 2 years i got the arse with that, so got a new job with Norwich Union, initially dealing with investor complaints! At the end of 2001, NU decided that London was too expensive so we relocated to York where the staff are cheaper! Having nothing better to do, I came along. Been up here for about 5 years now and have graduated to playing about with numbers all day... Could train a one armed chimp to do it! |

When I left the Regiment, I went self-employed working in a garage, car repairs, etc. I got fed up with that and went into sales (photocopiers & printing machines) did pretty well at the job and finished up sales director of a company in London (lived in St Albans)
A few years of that and we moved back to Lancashire. I now make stained glass windows in my workshop at home.
I also spend a lot of time trying to work out how to use a computer without being laughed at by the kids.

Hi Amos,
What you up to nowadays?
I am in the process of buying a hotel and complete mid May, so all going well, I will be a proud owner of a 16 bed hotel in Austria.
As soon as it is up and running, I will try and get a reunion going so we can all meet and chat about old times etc.
Regards.

Good to hear you are doing well Lee. I am still making stained glass windows.
Looking forward to the big reunion in Bury this weekend. Should be a lot of lamps swinging in the Regimental club! Old warhorses never die.

When I left the regiment I found it very hard to settle down - married local girl - divorced after 3 years, married again to an air hostess - had a boy who we lost - divorded again after 12 years - went on a trip - stayed in Romania for quite a while as a buyer - met a local girl - now married for 8 years - no children.
Now working in our hospital as a patient care manager.
Lots of jobs in between and I must add - done very well in most of them - just can't settle though and I move on. Wish that I could! _________________ The box said windows 98 or better so I purchased a Mac! |

Hi Lads.
Left in 91 bummed about for couple of years sales, security usual stuff. Did a course in welding and got a job as a welder in a marine yard. Then went to sea as an engineer for 7 years. Got fed up and started work for the RAF as a aircraft engineer. Since then I got into offshore windfarm construction. Now run 6 Tower teams on Thanet offshore windfarm as Tower team co-ordinator.
There is years of work building windfarms and the money is very good (£200 a day for tower crew) Anyone interested give me a shout on here. |
